Since opening its first location in 1992 in the heart of Honolulu, Side Street Inn has garnered a multitude of awards and accolades for its inviting atmosphere and award-winning “gourmet comfort food.”
Side Street Inn has been featured nationally on the Travel Channel in Anthony Bourdain’s show “No Reservations,” on the Food Network and publications such as Saveur Magazine, L.A.Times and Travel and Leisure Magazine.
In 2010, a second location was opened in Waikiki and quickly followed in its flagship location’s footsteps, garnering the coveted Hale ‘Aina Award from Honolulu Magazine for “Best New Restaurant.”
Today, both locations remain true local bars, each with steady regulars, a frequent mix of our island’s talented chefs, coaches and famous faces.
They are gathering places for everyone to enjoy tasty beverages and our island’s best local cuisine, viewing their favorite game or celebrating a special occasion.
The pan-fried pork chops and their fried rice is what Side Street Inn is famous for so when you go, order both (at least).
The servings are family style meaning all the plates are intended to be shared with the other people in your party.
It’s easy to go over board and order too much because everything looks good and I know because I have done that every single time I’ve been there. Although, that’s not necessarily a bad thing because I know that I’d have leftovers to look forward to the next day.
They have two locations but would suggest the Kapahulu location for visitors since it is newer and bigger.
The original Ala Moana location is okay but it is much smaller and parking can be troublesome.
The food is equally delicious at both locations so don’t think you’ll miss out on the taste of the food by going to one location over the other.
