Instagram Worthy Photo Spots in Haleiwa

I feel a little silly writing about photo locations in Hawaii because they are everywhere but if you’re ever on the North Shore of Oahu passing through Haleiwa Town, I’ve compiled a list of instagram worthy photo spots for you.
For the sake of this blog, I will focus on murals or art that was intended to attract people.
These photo ops are clever and are beneficial to both the company who puts these out and the person wanting to take the photo.
From the companies perspective it’s free advertisement because they know that the photo will likely be shared on social media.
On the opposite side of the equation, the person in the photo will post the photo on their social media accounts to show the world where they’ve been!
My boyfriend and I decided to take a stroll around Haleiwa town last weekend.
Because I know social media is a huge thing these days I kept an eye out for these photo “opportunities” that I know a lot of people love to post.
If you’re one of those people, I figured I’d save you the trouble from wandering around Haleiwa to find these spots and just tell you exactly where they are.
Teddy’s Bigger Burgers
If you find your way to this sign, you may as well get a seat. Teddy’s bigger burgers is a hamburger joint that is preferred by the locals.
North Shore Surf Shop
Want a couples surfing picture without have to actually surf?
You’ll find this right outside of the North Shore Surf Shop.
Visit the inside of the shop for local custom designs on apparel, stickers, wall decorations, and more.
You’ll love how the hanging surfboards brings color and dimension to the overall feel of the shop.
Instagram Worthy Photo Spot riding a wave: North Shore Surf Shop
Another Instagram worthy photo spot in Haleiwa is this wave and artistic pair of wings located on the left side (if facing the front door looking in) of the building of the North Shore Surf Shop.
There is a picnic table that is placed under the pair of wings. I suspect that it was placed there for short people like me (My height is: 5’0″).
The trouble with that is that when I stepped on the seats I became too tall for the wings and had to keep adjusting my height in order to get the wings to a good placement.
Its not entirely a bad thing because it’s not hard to edit photos.
Visit the online store at North Shore Surf Shop.
Aoki’s Shaved Ice: A cute Instagram worthy photo spot in Haleiwa
Aoki’s Shave Ice is the closest competitor to Matsumoto’s Shave Ice.
If you forgot to pack plenty of patience in order to endure the long line at Matsumoto’s, this is your next best bet and you get a cool picture out of it too.
M. Yoshida Building
Currently vacant, this M. Yoshida building has these cute butterfly wings that is an Instagram worthy photo spot in Haleiwa.
Not sure if this was initially intended for kids but it appears these wings fit me well for my 5’0′ height.
Most Famous Instagram Worthy Photo Spot: Tropical Rush
You might have seen these wings on other social media posts of people who has visited Haleiwa.
I might be wrong but I think this pair of wings is the most popular photo op in Haleiwa.
Hmmm, looks like this pair of wings is better for taller people. Next time I’ll need to bring a step stool. he he he
Malia’s Hawaiian Shave Ice
I’m not actually really sure if this is here for people to take photos with or if its just a cute painting of a cone of shaved ice but either way I thought it was cute.
Instagram Worthy Photo Spot if You’re a Fan of Bob Marley: Surf N Sea
Are you a fan of Bob Marley? If you are, Surf N Sea has a giant mural for you take a picture with this legend.
Matsumoto’s Store
Matsumoto’s Shave Ice is what Haleiwa town is most known for. The sign on the road side of the store is the same sign they had before the store modernized in 2008.
This is the sign you want to take a picture with.
Entrance before Wicked HI Cafe
This place is easily missed as it is located in what one would say “middle of nowhere”.
You would have no idea how cute the inside of the building is until you stop and take a peak.
Inside Wicked HI Cafe
This place has recently got a facelift and now looks like this. I absolutely love it.
If you are a coffee drinker, I say skip Starbucks and go here instead. The seating area is definitely one of many Instagram worthy photo spots in Haleiwa. Check them out.
